Authentic Scottish adventures

About Claymore Adventures

Claymore Adventures is a Scottish walking and adventure business built on a simple belief: walking in nature makes us stronger — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Rooted in community and inspired by Scotland’s landscapes, we support individuals and groups to experience the restorative power of walking, with a particular focus on the iconic West Highland Way.

Our Story

Claymore Adventures began many years ago as a small hill‑walking group called Ben Bhuida. What started as a group of friends meeting up regularly to explore Scotland’s hills and mountains quickly became something much more meaningful.

Through walking together, we saw first‑hand the positive impact that time outdoors can have — improving mental health, building confidence, strengthening bodies, and creating space to talk, reflect, and simply breathe.

As the group grew, so did our vision: to make supported walking experiences more accessible, welcoming, and achievable for more people.

From Ben Bhuida to Claymore Adventures

While the name Ben Bhuida held personal significance, it often caused practical challenges. It was difficult to spell, read, and remember, and people regularly struggled to tag or find us online.

As we evolved from an informal walking group into a more established adventure business, it became clear that we needed a name that better reflected both our values and our future.

We became Claymore Adventures.

Why “Claymore”?

The claymore sword is deeply connected to Scottish history, but for us it represents much more than that.

It symbolises strength, resilience, and courage — qualities that walking helps to build over time. We see it as a powerful metaphor for fighting back against poor mental health, regaining confidence, and developing strong, capable bodies through consistent movement in nature.

Walking isn’t about speed or performance. It’s about showing up, putting one foot in front of the other, and allowing the landscape to support you along the way.

What We Do

We specialise in supported walking experiences, particularly the West Highland Way, one of Scotland’s most iconic long‑distance routes.

From early planning through to crossing the finish line, we’re with you every step of the way.

We can arrange:

  • Accommodation
  • Transport
  • Luggage transfers
  • Itineraries
  • Bespoke extras to suit your needs

Whether you’re walking solo, with friends, or as part of a group, our aim is to remove the stress and uncertainty so you can focus on the experience itself.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make the West Highland Way — and supported walking adventures — welcoming and achievable for everyone, regardless of background or experience.

We want more people to experience the mental and physical benefits of walking in Scotland’s outdoors, supported by thoughtful planning, local knowledge, and a genuine understanding of what it means to take on a challenge.

Our Values and Principles

Quality

We’re committed to delivering carefully planned, high‑quality experiences with attention to detail and a strong focus on participant wellbeing.

Sustainability

We promote responsible and sustainable tourism, respecting the landscape, local communities, and the environments we walk through.

Passion

We’re passionate about Scotland’s natural spaces and the life‑changing benefits of spending time outdoors — and we’re proud to share that passion with others.

Walking Forward

Although our name has changed, our purpose hasn’t.

Claymore Adventures carries forward the spirit of Ben Bhuida with a clearer identity and a stronger voice, helping more people build strength, resilience, and connection through walking in nature.
